The owner of 400 acres of prime property in the Jasper Mountains contacted John Stein with interest in developing a large Private Hunter / Jumper Equestrian Estate. This Equestrian Estate would be secluded with a very rural quiet atmosphere.
The site was quite hilly and a wooded green field site. The development of a master site plan, which optimized the layout and took advantage of the fantastic views from this property, was a key element in the success of the first phase of the long term plan for the development of this horse farm. A significant amount of grading was done in the early stages of development. This was able to provide a foundation for the main and access drives to the main horse barn, garage structures, parking and a 160 ft. wide by 240 ft. long outdoor riding arena with lighting and sound system within easy access behind the barn. A traditional 4 board wood pasture fencing was used to define the variety of pasture areas. The main barn is a 12 stall boarding wood frame horse barn with a 1500 sq. ft. Trainers’ apartment above, along with an office, lounge and viewing area to the arena. All of the accessory rooms and support facilities are also located in the main barn.
Within easy access to the barn is a complementary matching storage and equipment garage with a 2400 sq. ft. caretaker apartment above that provides great views to the barn and surrounding pastures.
A large lake and riding trails were incorporated into the site plan for tranquil leisure rides through the estate. Provisions have been made for a main house to be placed near the lake that would look over to the hills on the opposite side of the lake and a short walk to the barn area.
The owner and all visitors are very pleased with the setting, and ease of day to day operation of this dream brought to reality.
